Retrouvailles, Vous Me Manquez, and Saudade were all part of a series of beat tapes, saying goodbye to my most recent relationship. This beat tape, “strangers” represents the culmination and closure of that love I have for that person. I’m not a quitter, and I might look like a chump for saying this, but I stuck around long after I should have - trying to get clarity, trying to continue a deep and special friendship, trying to prove myself and my love. It wasn’t until recently that someone pointed out that I shouldn’t have to work so hard to keep someone around. So I let go, because the fact of the matter is if they wanted to be here they would. If they still loved you, they’d listen and care. Alas they don’t, so from strangers to lovers, to strangers we went. This beat tape is me saying I love you for the last time 🙏🏾 and moving on to whats meant for me hopefully. To you, distant stranger.
